Texas Instruments’ DLP (Digital Light Processing) technology forms the foundation for BenQ’s projectors. The light from the bulb is reflected through the lens or away from it using a microchip consisting of millions of tiny mirrors. As a result, each tiny mirror only has an on or off setting, producing a black and white image. A single-chip DLP projector uses a spinning wheel made up of red, green, and blue segments to add color. This method has both advantages and disadvantages. Although some people may see color fringing (rainbow) artifacts due to the rotating color wheel, using a single chip still produces a sharp image.

Know About Other BenQ Projector Series Products

DLP projectors have low latency and good motion handling, making them ideal for gaming. They also often provide strong lighting, which is beneficial in spaces with white walls. However, because of the cooling fans and the rotating color wheel, they can be noisy. Additionally, because they are reflective, they have poor black levels and little shadow detail.

Although BenQ sells several DLP projectors that enable 4K, none of them use a native 4K chipset. Instead, the more expensive 4K models use a larger chip with a resolution of 2716 x 1528 pixels, flashing the image twice to produce the 4K image. Cheaper 4K projectors produce the 4K image by flashing the image four times from a 1920 x 1080 chip.

Which is better LCD or DLP projector?

The best projector for you will rely on your particular preferences and requirements as both LCD (liquid crystal display) and DLP (digital light processing) projectors each have their own set of benefits and drawbacks. When picking between an LCD projector and a DLP projector, keep the following factors in mind:

Image Quality: In general, LCD projectors create vivid, colorful images with good contrast and detail. In addition to producing high-quality images, DLP projectors can also experience “rainbowing,” a visual artifact that causes a rainbow-like effect on the screen.

Brightness: DLP projectors are often brighter than LCD projectors, making them an excellent option for usage in well-lit environments or for projecting onto a big screen.

Color Accuracy: Because of its reputation for outstanding color accuracy, LCD projectors are a fantastic option for tasks like graphic design or video editing that call for accurate color reproduction. When it comes to color reproduction accuracy, DLP projectors might not be as good.

Bulb Life: DLP projectors typically have longer bulb life than LCD projectors, which means that you will need to replace the bulb less frequently.

Price: Compared to LCD projectors, DLP projectors are frequently less expensive.

In the end, the decision between an LCD projector and a DLP projector will be based on your unique requirements and financial constraints. To better understand the benefits and drawbacks of each technology, it may be beneficial to read reviews.
