Shortly before enlisting in the American Army during World War II, Paul W. Klipsch started experimenting speaker designs in 1938. His first speaker was the Klipschorn, which was developed for years before being granted a patent in 1945. The next year, his speaker-building company, Klipsch & Associates, got its start in a tin shed in Hope, Arkansas.

From 1946 until 1948, when he recruited his first employee, Mr. Klipsch built the original Klipschorn and every subsequent Klipschorn by hand in that tin shack. More speaker designs developed as a result of the company’s growth.

In order to serve as a middle channel between two Klipschorns, The Heresy was created in 1957. The Cornwall, the La Scala, and lastly the Forte followed in 1959, 1963, and 1985, respectively.

Because of their efficiency, Klipsch speakers don’t use much power to play music loudly. They can operate at high output levels for extended periods of time with little distortion. Klipsch designs their speakers to accurately and clearly reproduce both loud, forceful sounds and quieter, more subtle sounds.

When speakers “color” sound, they are modifying how you hear your music by applying their own sonic qualities. Klipsch hates colorization, and its speakers have a flat frequency response that gives your favorite music an honest presentation. Klipsch makes directional speakers for its products. An LTS (Linear Travel Suspension) tweeter, located inside the horn, uses Kapton (an incredibly light and durable material) as part of the suspension system. A light tweeter suspension system improves resolution and clarity, reduces distortion, and increases tweeter efficiency.
