The Focal Chora 826 floorstanding speakers have superior French workmanship and are created with absolute immersion in mind. The Slatefiber cone of the 826 is a crucial component. This technology is unique to Focal and the result of extensive research and development. The experts at Focal combined a thermoplastic polymer with ultra-lightweight, recyclable, non-woven carbon fibers—a first in the audio industry. With the TNF Tweeter, another unique to Focal, you can create a rich, dramatic, and balanced sound that isn’t short on accuracy and harmony.
The Chora 826 bass-reflex loudspeaker fully represents a user-friendly high-fidelity solution for an immersive audio experience. The speaker drivers, which are fitted with the proprietary Slatefiber cone created and manufactured at the Focal plant in France, deliver well-aligned and precise midranges and well-articulated bass, allowing you to enjoy a large, rich, and fantastic sound. Furthermore, the existence of an aerodynamic front port removes even the most imperceptible distortion, giving the bass additional force. Chora 826 is the flagship model of our collection, excellent for big, spreading spaces, thanks to its sleek, contemporary design combined with your choice of finish and the slanted stand for a fantastic sound picture.

Design
Three-way, bass-reflex design is the Chora 826. The tweeter, which uses the same memory foam surround as the beryllium tweeters in the Utopia series, is an inverted dome TNF aluminum/magnesium tweeter. The broader sweet spot for the listener is a result of the inverted tweeter’s reduction of beaming.
Slatefiber, a Focal exclusive, sandwiched two layers of thermoplastic polymer with recycled, non-woven carbon fibres. The cones are hard and strong because the fibres all point in the same direction. It also gives the cones a distinct appearance that I thought visually pleasant, if I may add. Focal slatefiber cone is used to make the two 6.5-inch woofers and the 6.5-inch midrange. The included plinths that attach to the cabinets are also distinctive. They offer a little upward tilt that gives the front baffle the appearance of hovering above the ground. It merely took a few minutes to install them because an Allen wrench was provided. Overall, the design of Chora 836 is well built and have great design.
Sound Quality
However, the issue goes beyond cabinet size. The Chora line also features the brand-new “Slatefiber” cone material, which the firm claims to be at once light, rigid, and well-damped. Twin 165mm Slatefiber woofers of the Chora 826 are switched at 270Hz for a single 165mm Slatefiber midrange driver. The 25mm inverted dome tweeter made of an aluminum/magnesium alloy takes over at 2.7 kHz.
This tweeter is unusually concave rather than convex, which the manufacturer claims makes it less directional. The suspension between the dome and its bracket also contains Poron, a substance with what Focal refers to as “form memory” properties. The configuration was created to lessen distortion and is based on the beryllium tweeter used in the company’s high-end Utopia range, which was initially introduced in 1995. In the end, this floor standing speaker produces some really good music, and the sound coming out of that plinth is amazing.
