Design

Design

The preceding CX series’ usage of a solid front foot and a slightly tapered front panel, which gives the unit the appearance of floating in the air on the shelf, is something we have always enjoyed about their design. With a colour update to a stylish Lunar Grey shade, the new CX models maintain this style.

The front panel is laid out. In the center, you’ll see a display with the source selection buttons. Analog inputs are on the left and digital on the right. Right in the center is the speaker selector button which gives you a choice of A, B, or A&B. The front side includes a headphone output and a mini-plug audio input on the left. A large, very solid feeling volume knob is on the left.

Sound Quality

Sound Quality

The Cambridge Audio CXA61’s power is still great for a 60-watt amplifier that isn’t overly powerful. To match the speakers, I used a pair of speakers. The Focal Chora 806 features a sizable cabinet, making it possible to achieve good sound scale and sound pressure. Amplifiers made by Cambridge Audio won’t have an excessively rich or heavy tone. However, it won’t provide an incredibly crisp, high-definition, or chilly sound, and it won’t do so for people who enjoy listening to popular music, vocal performances, and musical instruments. The ones that are not overly complex are more than sufficient, like orchestral music.

The sound quality of earlier amplifiers at this level has a drawback because of pricing and cost constraints. But the circuit modification and decoding advancement aided this generation. This model makes it more difficult to hear this little flaw.

The reason why I will not recommend this amplifier

    By Samay Chana

Length of Use: Less than 3 months

    Overall Experience:

In my home office, I primarily listen to music. For gaming, I used to have a Denon/Mission surround system, but over the years I switched to stereo front speakers with a subwoofer and an Arcam DAC. The issue with the CX is its remote control, changing the level on the remote will change the volume of both the amplifier and the pre-amp on the CXA61.
