The second power amplifier in the Classic series is the Naim NAP 200 DR. A Naim pre-amplifier can be powered via the single ended inputs on the 4-pin Din connection. The only feature on the front panel is the power switch. The common Naim mentality is to spend money on items that perform at the highest level given their pricing. This method is what makes the Naim perform at such a high level.
It is simple to understand how the NAP 200 DR 2’s internals make the 70W per channel specification misleading. The product’s power supply is its brains. For low stray magnetic fields, Naim uses a sizable toroidal transformer. For best performance, the NAP 200 DR transformer features three separate windings that supply the amplifier’s various stages. As a result, the NAP 200 DR provides power when the music calls for it. Naim is the only firm that produces amplifiers in quite the same way.

Design
The NAP 200 design is straightforward and unyielding, with a single-minded focus on forging a lasting musical bond with the listener.
The years of study that went into the NAP 500 amplifier have lately been applied to the NAP 200 amplifier. Numerous innovations from the 500 Series project have improved the electronic design and componentry, leading to sizable and labor-intensive performance enhancements. However, it still maintains the characteristics that made it an icon: simplicity, focus, and pure musicality.
Sound Quality
The Naim amplifier range has a distinctive dynamic sound as a result of this focus on detail. It can easily drive the majority of loudspeakers, therefore we advise getting in touch if you’d like to hear any Naim products. This is the model that comes after it on the power amplifier name ladder. The NAP 300 DR, NAP 250 DR, and NAP 100 are the other three power amplifiers in the lineup.
The NAP 200 employs a new circuit design with enhanced earthing arrangements built on a very high quality, anti-resonance main audio circuit board, similar to the NAP 500, the company’s flagship model. Sensitive internal components are shielded from external interference and microphonic vibration by resonance-controlling, anti-vibration feet. Overall the sound quality is good dynamics and increased clarity in audio.

FAQs
Are Naim amplifiers Class A?
Naim Audio offers a range of amplifiers, and some of them are Class A amplifiers. Class A amplifiers are considered to have the best linearity and lowest distortion, but they also have a higher power consumption and generate more heat compared to other types of amplifiers, such as Class AB.
Naim Audio’s most popular Class A amplifiers are the NAP 200 and NAP 250. The NAP 250 is considered the most powerful Class A amplifier that Naim offers, while the NAP 200 is a more compact option.
Is Class A or Class D amplifier better?
The choice between a Class A or Class D amplifier ultimately depends on your specific needs and preferences. Both have their own unique set of advantages and disadvantages.
Class A amplifiers are considered to be the best sounding amplifiers because of their outstanding linearity and low distortion, but they also use a lot of power and produce a lot of heat. High-end audio systems, where sound quality is the main priority, are the main applications for Class A amplifiers.
On the other side, Class D amplifiers are much more energy-efficient than Class A amplifiers, using less power and producing less heat. Additionally, because they are lighter and smaller, they are better suited for home cinema systems and portable devices. Although Class D amplifiers can generate high-quality audio and have significantly improved in recent years, they still fall short of Class A amplifiers in terms of sound quality.
