Anthem MRX 1140 Review

Their new top of the series model, the Anthem MRX 1140 Audio Visual Receiver, has a list of features and specs appropriate for a flagship model. With 14.2 channel pre-amplifier outputs and 140 watts per channel, this receiver may undoubtedly sound better than even the most daring home theatre setups. However, it also features cutting-edge surround processing, including IMAX Enhanced, DTS:X Pro, and of course Dolby Atmos, as well as on-board patented technology like ARC Genesis room correction for the best audio in any space.

One of the most searched AV items on the market right now is without a doubt the Anthem MRX 1140. It has the same subtle good aesthetics as the rest of the most recent Anthem range, an incredible number of functions, endless connections, and a price that is exactly right. Let’s start with some of the largest numbers: It has a total of 15.2 channel preamplifier outputs available through RCA, 140 watts of Class AB amplification across the 5 main channels, and an additional 60 watts of Class D amplification powering the remaining 6 surround and Dolby Atmos channels.

Conclusions

The new MRX-1140 from Anthem is a powerful system that can build a large soundstage with enormous dynamic swings. It creates seamless soundscapes with superb channel steering and distinct yet potent bass when used in conjunction with ARC Genesis. Current-generation ARC Genesis from Anthem has proven to be just as capable and can easily compete with Dirac Live.

In terms of look, adaptability, and features, the MRX-1140 clearly improves upon its predecessor. More significantly, it offers a more refined sound quality, with better imaging and perhaps more power than its predecessor where it counts. It surpasses its current pricing rivals and provides a more exciting and dramatic viewing experience. I’d even venture to say that it competes favourably with some of the more expensive AV Receivers now on the market.
