Bowers & Wilkins PI7 Review – The Astonishing Earbuds

Bowers & Wilkins did well to make the PI7’s charging case compact enough to fit in your pocket, especially in light of the size of the earbuds. The elliptical buds are tucked within the thin casing, which gives the impression that it has an AirPods-style “toothbrush head” appearance when closed.

The earbuds themselves are on the larger side, resembling the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 but being more capsule-shaped as opposed to teardrop-shaped, and not nearly as comfy or ergonomic. They have a more luxurious appearance than the Sennheisers thanks to their beautifully finished brushed gold embellishments on the microphones and the circular capacitive control pad above the speaker housing.

Our Verdict

4.6

They have the finest noise-cancelling sound of any earbuds I’ve tested, and while their ANC isn’t the best in its class, it’s not bad either. Additionally, they are well protected from dust and water, fit well (at least for me), and have a beautiful appearance.

Pros

  • Excellent performance in active noise isolation.
  • Crisp, quick, and perceptive tone
  • Classy completion
  • Case retransmitter function

Cons

  • Expensive relative to the competition
  • Periodic sound interruptions
  • Noise cancellation is essential.

Design

Design

Bowers & Wilkins has atoned for this oversight with the PI7 charging case’s amazing ‘retransmission’ capability. USB-C to USB-C and 3.5mm to USB-C cables are provided in the box, along with a variety of ear tips in various sizes. The charging case will feed audio data to the earbuds at the aptX Low Latency standard if you connect either one to the charging case (at one end) and, say, a laptop computer (at the other).

It’s a unique feature that offers wireless connectivity to a variety of previously unreachable sources, such as some gaming consoles or an in-flight entertainment system. Or the MacBook Air we’re currently using, which is unquestionably one of the most erratic sources of wireless audio we’ve ever experienced.

Sound Quality

Sound Quality

Treble control is undeniably effective, but tonally it can err just a little on the airy, thin side. As a result, an airy, thin recording will exacerbate this tendency, and turning up the volume will make it even worse. By no means is it a fatal fault, but it’s pretty much the only aspect of the Bowers & Wilkins sound that merits critical notice.

Active noise-cancelling is also a marginally successful product. It is certainly adequate to minimize the drone of public transportation. However, calls have good call quality, and the built-in microphones are clear enough for you to have efficient conversations with your preferred voice assistant.

Conclusion

Although the PI7 is incredibly exciting and energetic in its presentation, it is far from neutral due to the legacy of Bowers & Wilkins. Even yet, if priced similarly to its rivals, this product and sound easily could have earned five stars. It combines high-end design elements with high-quality materials and the capability to transmit from any analog source, which may be a game-changer if you frequently travel abroad. With the PI7 earbuds, Bowers & Wilkins lives up to its reputation for producing high-caliber audio, placing them on par with similar products. The case serves a dual purpose that is quite helpful, but the rest of the bundle compels you to make it cool

The sound is great with noise cancellation

    By Yashwant Budhewar

    Length of Use: 6–12 months

    Overall Experience:

I think the PI7 has amazing sound quality. Very musically appealing. Separation is a great thing. I’ve never heard a chorus and all of the instrument layers so clearly together. I’m rediscovering my love for listening to music. The trembling of Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro, in my opinion, is a little too bright. The PI7 vibration is ideal.
